I'm thinkin about doing a D16z6 engine swap into my 88 civic dx. Is the d16z6 better than the ZC? I know the ZC only has 8hp over the d16z6, but the d16z6 has vtec. just let me know what you guys think about it.

They both have there advantages and disadvantages. ZC has more grunt then the SOHC, but there are more parts available for the SOHC. The wiring of the Vtec is kinda a hassle compared to just dropping in a ZC. ZC looks nicer in the engine bay
I would say they are pretty even with each other. So its more or less your prefference of DOHC or SOHC "Vtec does not always mean better"

here we go again! which is better?
check out the post that i asked ladyinredsi...ami why she doesn't have a dohc
verry stong feelings there...
even though the numbers for the z6 are close to the zc...i have beat many at the local 1/8 mile track with no problem...my 90/hb zc runs with the gsr's...even beat a few..i haven't seen a naturally asperated z6 do that...if you are going to swap do the research...i kind of wish i had put the b16
in..espeacilly if you are going vtec...it does take a couple more dollars but i think it would be worth it....depends on the demands of the car...if you are going to drive it every day you may not want to go b16 they vibrate kind of bad with the polyurethane engine mounts needed to make it fit....
there is my in put
seya mitchd..
